MICHAEL R. RICHARDS

Professor, Cornell University

Professor Richards currently teaches the Economics of Health Care Markets at the advanced undergraduate and graduate (MHA) levels as well as Health Care Organizations at the graduate (MHA) level. The former uses the theories and empirical tools of microeconomics to explore a variety of healthcare industries and related policy interventions. The latter examines the histories and evolutions of various US healthcare entities to better understand where things have been and where they are going. He also has the distinct privilege of leading Cornell's Sloan Program in Health Administration (MHA).

Previously, Professor Richards served as the Graduate Program Director for Baylor's PhD in Health Services Research & Policy while teaching health policy and health economics courses at the undergraduate, graduate (MBA and PhD), and medical education (MD) levels at Baylor University and the Baylor College of Medicine. He taught health economics in Vanderbilt's MPH program prior to his time at Baylor.
